Understanding the Export File
Your Apple Health export (export.zip) contains:
- export.xml: Main XML file with glucose data (typically 5-50 MB)
- export_cda.xml: Clinical Document Architecture format
- workout-routes/: GPS data from outdoor workouts (if any)
- electrocardiograms/: ECG recordings from Apple Watch (if any)
- This file contains all your health dataβtreat it like a medical record
- GLYVIA processes it locally on your Windows PC (no internet upload)
- You can delete export.zip after importing (GLYVIA stores processed data separately)
- Don't share this file with others unless necessary
- Blood glucose readings: From CGMs, meters, or manual entries
- Historical data: Everything since you started logging in Apple Health
- Sources: Dexcom, Freestyle Libre, finger-stick meters, manual entries
- Timestamps: Exact date/time for every measurement
Troubleshooting Common Issues
β Export takes too long or freezes
Solution: Restart iPhone and try again. Ensure you have 30%+ battery and stable performance (close other apps).
β Can't find export.zip file on iPhone
Solution: Check Files app β "On My iPhone" β "Downloads" folder. If using iCloud Drive, check iCloud β Downloads.
β File too large for email (over 25 MB)
Solution: Use iCloud Drive, Google Drive, Dropbox, or USB cable transfer instead.
β iPhone not recognized by Windows
Solution:
- Install iTunes for Windows from apple.com/itunes
- Unlock iPhone and trust the computer
- Try different USB port or cable
- Restart both devices
β GLYVIA won't import the file
Solution: Ensure you're selecting the .zip file (not the extracted folder). File must be named "export.zip" from Apple Health.
β How often should I update my export?
Answer: Re-export whenever you want updated reports. GLYVIA can handle multiple imports and will update your data accordingly.
